SAP Retail is and remains the transactional backbone of many modern retail companies. Financial postings, inventory movements, allocation logic, and compliance-relevant processes require deterministic systems with stability and auditability that can be transparently tested and maintained.

We are happy to advise you on the use of AI systems for automating business processes where AI can be applied meaningfully, for example in interactions with users or customers.

AI Solutions

Even though SAP Joule is currently offered only for cloud solutions including RISE, AI systems can also be integrated with on-premise systems.

Our proprietary AI layer does not bypass ERP controls. It uses explicitly defined integration points while transactional logic and postings remain in SAP. From a governance and compliance perspective, we consider this the safest way to deploy AI on SAP systems.

AI Principles

AI Principle 1: Clean Core First

SAP remains the system of record. Clean-core standards prepare a possible transition from on-premise systems to cloud solutions. Transactional integrity, compliance-relevant postings, and financial calculations belong in and remain within the secured SAP environment.

AI Principle 2: Intelligent AI Layer

Context-specific information for the procedural use case is provided, e.g. for employee usage, corresponding work instructions and organizational process descriptions, or for customer usage, information approved for customers.

AI Principle 3: Controlled Data Access

No unrestricted database access by AI.
Data provisioning via CDS views, OData services, and whitelisted APIs.
Least privilege and role-based authorization as standard.
OData endpoints can be designed so that only approved information is accessible.

SAP Joule can be integrated optionally, but is not required.

Security by Design

Secure credential and secret management (for example vault-based).
Encrypted communication (end-to-end TLS).

AI does not invent financial logic, overwrite ERP controls, or bypass compliance mechanisms. It supports governed enterprise systems instead of replacing them.

Information access remains end-to-end controlled: scope, authorization, encryption, and full auditability.
